The Rising Voice of Borhan
When a sports field was built in the heart of his village, a nine-year-old boy stepped onto the pitch and found his calling. Now eleven, he has clubs in Tehran watching him play.
A Spark on the Pitch
A Village Waiting for a Chance
In the quiet village of Qusheh Su, nine-year-old Borhan was waiting for a chance to shine. But in places where daily survival is a struggle, opportunities are often as rare as rain in the desert. Talent can go unnoticed for years, simply because there is nowhere for it to grow.
A Field in the Heart of the Village
Everything changed the day a new sports field was built in the center of his village. It wasn't just a patch of green turf. It was a gathering place, somewhere children could play, learn and imagine futures no one had written for them yet.
In Iran, Village Rise and our partner, the Danehaye Mehr Foundation, develop community spaces like this one, including soccer fields that serve as hubs for youth engagement, mentorship and connection. When local football classes began on the new field, Borhan was there, and it was as if the stars had finally aligned for him.
A Coach, a Calling
Under the steady guidance of his coach, Kamal, Borhan found his calling. On that field he learned far more than how to pass or strike a ball. He absorbed the lessons that matter long after the final whistle: persistence, tireless effort, and the grit it takes to overcome life's steepest obstacles.
The Most Technical Player in the Province
His talent quickly became impossible to miss. By the time he was ten, Borhan was competing in provincial tournaments and leaving crowds in awe. He didn't just play the game; he elevated it, earning the title of "Most Technical Player" in the entire province.
Clubs Are Watching
Today, at just eleven years old, Borhan's horizon has opened wide. Major football clubs in Tehran are following his progress, and experienced coaches travel all the way to his village to see his footwork for themselves.
His family still faces real hardship. But Borhan looks toward tomorrow with a heart full of hope, and with good reason.
Room for Hundreds More
The beginning of Borhan's journey, the moment that lit a candle in a young boy's soul, was simply a sports field, built by people who believed in the unseen potential of a rural village.
Through the Danehaye Mehr Foundation, we know there are hundreds of children like Borhan still waiting for their starting line. They don't lack talent, passion or drive. They only lack the ground to stand on. Borhan's story is a reminder of what becomes possible when that ground is there.
