Education
Village Rise’s Education program expands access to learning opportunities that help individuals strengthen skills, build confidence, and unlock long-term opportunity within their own communities.
Our work includes support for formal and informal education, school construction and renovation, vocational and skills-based training, sustainability initiatives, and youth-centered programs that foster connection, leadership, and personal growth. Through partnerships with local schools, educators, and community leaders, Village Rise helps create culturally rooted learning environments that support both individual and community wellbeing.
We believe education is not only about academics, it is about creating opportunity, strengthening self-reliance, and helping communities build sustainable futures from within.
In many of the communities Village Rise partners with, barriers such as poverty, geographic isolation, limited infrastructure, and lack of educational resources can prevent children and young adults from accessing consistent learning opportunities. These challenges often extend beyond the classroom, impacting long-term economic stability, confidence, leadership development, and community resilience.
Village Rise chose education as a core program because we believe learning creates pathways toward empowerment, opportunity, and self-sustainability. When individuals are supported with access to education and skill-building opportunities, communities are better positioned to grow stronger from within.
Our Approach
Our approach to education is community-led and partnership-driven.
We work closely with local schools, educators, families, and community organizations to understand what resources and opportunities are most needed within each region. Rather than applying one-size-fits-all solutions, Village Rise supports educational initiatives that are shaped by local context, culture, and long-term community goals.
This work includes improving educational infrastructure, supporting youth-centered programs, investing in sustainability and vocational initiatives, and helping create environments where children and young adults can learn, connect, and thrive.
Grounded in collaboration, empowerment, and sustainability, Village Rise approaches education as a long-term investment in both people and communities.

Project Highlight
Saturday School | Martha Brae, Trelawny Parish
For more than six years, Village Rise has supported the Saturday School Program in Martha Brae, Jamaica, providing consistent educational support, mentorship, meals, and community connection for local students.
Created in partnership with the Independent Baptist Mission, the program serves approximately 25–40 students weekly through tutoring and individualized academic support tailored to each child’s pace and needs. Beyond academics, the program creates a nurturing environment where students receive encouragement, mentorship, and access to nutritious meals.
The Saturday School has become an important community space for learning, confidence-building, and youth development, helping students strengthen both educational and personal growth in a supportive setting.
More than a tutoring program, the initiative reflects Village Rise’s belief that education works best when students are supported holistically, academically, emotionally, and within the context of community.
“The Saturday School became more than just a place to study. It gave us encouragement, support, and people who truly believed in us.”
